 Peer Reviewing
I have learned a lot about peer reviewing by viewing What is Peer Reviewing Editing and Writing Peer Review Top 10 Mistakes, videos and ,Peer Edit With Perfection Tutorial slideshow. Growing up in school, I was not taught to stay positive when peer reviewing. I was taught to be straightforward with the student's work and to not hold nothing back. Now, I realize that sometimes that is not the right way when peer reviewing because most importantly he or she is a human and humans have feelings. So, that is why when we make suggestions to students, we should say it in a positive way.

I know as a Southerner, we tend to make words when we speak and will apply those words to our writing. For instance," Everyone's having a great time." We know that there is not a contraction for everyone is but we have established this error in our everyday speaking. So before criticizing someone's work, we must first try relate to why the person might have made these mistakes in the first place. I love the concept of starting off a peer review with compliments because it will definitely make the peer feel as if you really care about his or her writing.

Project # 4 C4T Assignment

I had the pleasure to read Kelly Tenkely's blog.

Post#1 Timelapse: 3 decades of photo imagery of the world I learned that a timeelapse is a visual satellite that predicts the weather of the country. Ex. hurricanes and tornadoes. It can be used for classes, such as history, to explain to students how the world changes. My comment: Thank your for sharing your blog. I never knew that it was called a timelapse. This is a great idea to be used in the classroom.

Post#2 EDpuzzle: Like Video in the Classroom 2.0 EDpuzzle is a great way for teachers to incorporate videos into his or her teaching. Teachers can add questions throughout the videos in order to obtain students' comprehension. This program has been used for many subjects, such as Math, Reading and Science. My comment: I think this program will be very beneficial to my future students. I like how if I have a substitute teacher one day for my class, this program can be a teaching component for my class, and I can get immediate feedback from my students' progress. Technology

The central message to the video,,Mr. Dancealot, is to display how ineffective teaching can hinder students from learning. The author makes the case for this conclusion by demonstrating what can happen to a teacher's class when his or her message is inadequate for students to understand. For instance, Mr. Dancealot tries to teach his class a dance through powerpoints instead of actually demonstrating to his students. I agree with the author's conclusion because if there is a break in the line of communication with someone, the message that is trying to be conveyed will not be effective.

In Kevin Robert's video ,Teaching in the 21st Centruy he explains how teaching now is totally different from earlier years. Roberts believes that teaching in the 21st century means that teachers must be aware of up-to-date technology in order to attract students because students are starting to become more technology literate each generation.

Teaching in the 21st Century

Thesis: Robert believes that teaching in the 21st century means that teachers must be technology literate and must be collaborate with students.

I. Technology Literacy

A. Reliable resources

1.Social media

2.Technolgy devices

II. Collaboration

A. Understanding Students

1. personal level

2. professional level

I agree with Roberts that teaching is starting to change more towards the technology side because students are starting to become more advanced with technology. So teachers must be able to evolve their teaching around students' interests in technology because that is the only way how teachers can grasp students' attention. Being more technology literate will affect me tremendously because technology is advancing each year and I want to be able to connect with my students on all types of levels.

Network Student is a video constructed by high school students who describe how technology has transformed into being the key to teaching students. The norm of the 21st century is to allow technology to be "connectivism" which means to allow technology to take control of learning. The students explain that teachers' responsibilities are to only be motivators and guardians, and that technology is students' reference. I disagree that technology should be a tool that can used to enhance the learning process because all students learn in different ways. All students have different learning techniques whether its audio, hands on and/or visual. I know technology is starting to now incorporate all three learning techniques. However, technology can not help explain something to a struggling student from different angles and try to figure out what technique is best for the student. It is a human/teacher that can make that judgment about a student, and a teacher can physically give students a one on one connection.

In Vicki Davis'video, Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts she demonstrates how her students help each other learn materials by using different technology aproaches. The thesis of Davis's video is that technology can be used as another learning technic for students other than just on paper. I agree with Davis because students are more prone to learn something from technology than from a piece a paper, but I would not let technology be the main source of learning.
< /br> Flipping the classroom is not new to me, but I did not learn this concept until college. Flipping the classroom is a new teaching strategy that teachers use where students are able to learn taught materials by using the computer. For instance, Stem is a program where students answer questions pertaining to what they might have read or was taught. This approach will definitely be useful for me as a teacher because this will give some feedback on what each student needs extra work on. 21st Centruy Learner

The things that I have heard about EDM 310 are that this class definitely requires a lot of my time ( nine hours to be exact) and that the tools I will learn in this class will be very beneficial to my educational profession.

A fear that I have about this class is that I will not be as technology literate like some of my classmates.

When I compare EDM 310 to other classes I have taken here at the University of South Alabama, I can definitely say that other three credit courses might emphasis that students need to spend nine hours to prepare for the classes, but in reality, it never takes that much time. The most I have studied for a test is an hour and half. However for EDM 310, I can see how it would take students nine hours to prepare for this class because of the workload that must be done within a week.

The most difficult thing that might be for me is when we start doing the more advanced technology stuff, such as editing a video on the computer.

The best ways how I can address this difficulty are by constantly practicing the skills and going to the labs for extra help.

I have no questions about EDM 310.

Practice Post

I was born November 25, 1992 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Denver Colorado. I am the youngest child and the only girl out of five brothers. I was an army brat. I have only moved twice which were from Colorado to Texas and Texas to Mississippi. In high school, I graduated 10 out of 320 students. I was President over the majority of clubs at Harrison Central High School, such as the Beta Club, National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, etc.

Currently, I am a Junior here at the University of South Alabama. I came to South for the Nursing program. While in my first semester in Nursing school, I realized that I did not have a passion to become a nurse but to become a teacher was the way for me. My goal is to continue to be the best role model to children and to become the best teacher ever. I enjoy volunteering within the communities and spending quality time with friends and family.

The reason why I want to enter the field of education because I always have had a passion to make a difference in a child's life whether it is in academics or extracurricular activities.

I have a deep passion for my family. I am best at being a manager over the Usher Corp at the Mitchell Center. I enjoy going to school more than anything because that is an opportunity for me to become a better person for myself by learning new things each and every day. I hope to continue to become a better manager to my employees both on a personal and business level.

I must say that I am pretty blessed to say that I will be a legacy for my family because I will be the first in my family to graduate from a four year college and the first to ever become a teacher.
